The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) is a Smithsonian Institution museum established in 2003 by an Act of Congress. The construction began on the mall in 2012 and is expected to be completed in 2015. Meanwhile, the Gallery is located on the Second Floor, East Wing of the National Museum of American History.
This is the 19th Smithsonian Institution and is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history, and culture.
